Collab requests and creator crossovers
Accept a collab when your own category is cold or you are chasing a milestone, and decline while you are mid-viral. Collabs pay in reach, sponsors pay in cash.
A collab request is another creator asking to appear in your content. It is one of the few mechanics in Become a Youtuber! where the cost is not money — it is an upload slot.
What a collab actually gives you
| You get | You pay |
|---|---|
| A slice of another creator's audience | An upload slot spent on a shared video |
| A faster subscriber bump than a solo upload | Some control over the video's style |
| Contact with players a few stages ahead of you | Nothing else |
Collabs are best early, when your own audience is thin and any borrowed reach is a big percentage change.
When to accept
- Your category is cold. A collab is a way to stay visible while a trend is elsewhere.
- The other creator is ahead of you. Reach you cannot reach yet.
- You are chasing a milestone. Shared videos convert subs quickly.
- You have a spare slot. If you are mid-trend, skip it.
When to decline
- You are mid-viral. Do not spend trend momentum on a shared video.
- The request arrives while your upgrade queue is funded. Money first, reach second.
- You are saving slots for a category rotation you can exploit. Slots are your scarcest resource.
Running a collab well
- Reply to the requesting creator before filming. Collabs are a conversation.
- Keep your own format. Your subscribers followed you, not the crossover.
- Reply to the comments afterwards. Shared audience comments are the highest-value replies in the game.
- Follow up with the money. Collab money is real money — put it in gear.
Collab questions
Do collabs cost Robux? No.
Can I request collabs myself? Yes — the request mechanic works both ways.
Is collab or sponsor better? They pay in different currencies. Sponsors pay cash; collabs pay reach. Early on, reach is worth more than cash; later, cash buys the reach back. See the sponsors page for the money side.
